Secondhand

Secondhand has been presented in excerpt form at venues and festivals across the United States. Created while in residence at Studio 210 in San Francisco in 2018, this body of research incorporates an archive of prosthetic arms spanning 21 years of growth. The line between what is real and what is artificial is blurred as the dancer explores the practical and abstract uses of her many arms.

Julie is currently developing a 30-minute version of Secondhand for young audiences, exploring questions of identity, embodiment, difference, and the many ways we can imagine what a body is capable of.
