Can I Get A Witness?

"Can I Get a Witness?" is an ongoing solo project about witnessing, parenthood, and the strange intimacy of being seen while becoming someone new. The project began by inviting fellow dancers and choreographers to spend time with my infant son and create a small movement phrase, gesture, score, or other offering in response to the experience. As they watch him, he watches them; each becoming the other's witness in an ongoing exchange of attention, presence, and movement. These individual offerings become seeds for a larger work exploring memory, care, exchange, and the ways pieces of other people can travel with us and become something new.
